I am attempting to cheer myself up by listening to atrociously bad music.

This may well be becoming a dependence issue. It was started by J. who has the biggest collection of appalling music of anyone I have ever met and who introduced me to the special delight of hunting for awful cds (I've always been a sucker for the so-bad-it-is-brilliant-genre).

My own native land is particularly rich with these, and many examples spring to mind (these are actual literal translations of song titles)

* Down on the green meadow the little ant is crawling on Aysha's bosoms

* Marital duty is heavier than tax (my favourite, rousing stuff)

*Pretty Sneza trod on a hedgehog.

*A peasant in the heart and soul

The horror and delight of these is exacerbated by the fact that in Serb, they rhyme

some lyrics :

Way down yonder on the Chattahoochee
It gets hotter than a HoocheKoochee (what the fuck is a hoochekoochee? it sounds pervy)

I was ready but she wasn't willing (a smart young woman, she has no place in a country song)
So I settled for a burger and a great snow cone (did the snow cone go baaaaaa by any chance?)

Down by the river on a Friday night
Beer in cans in the pale moonlight (you wild party thing you)
Talking about cars and dreaming about women (stunning).
Never had a plan (sounds like the same approach was used for song lyrics)
Just living for the minute

There are many other fine songs and beautiful snippets *she wears cheap sunglasses and fake snakeskin boots made by Calvin Klen* (what style! what class!)

and *Texas When I die* (A beautiful tribute to xenophobia and innbreeding)

*Whiskey River* (although if it is Jack Daniels maybe there is redeeming qualities), the fabulous contributions of Tammy, Wife-Beating-Can-Bring-The-Two-of-You-Closer-Together Wynette, to female emancipation and good communication in marriage (Stand by Your Man and Co.)

I would say that anyone caught writing and performing country music should be repeatedly beaten over the head with their guitar and then publically disembowelled but I do need something to keep me entertained (now that I sadly no longer get Channel 5). Although come to think of it public disembelling might be really quite entertaining....
