Re: nudity and dark sky
that's an excellent start, but what do you think of the cards?

Re: nudity and dark sky
Ok. I've been processing them.

Her hair is so beautiful. I feel like the composition of the card is strong. So is the pose.

Question: is that a fig leaf? Probably the flower's leaf..I really like the rendering of the flowers... not overaught. You weren't afraid of keeping them to their lyric glory. . Personally I wouldn't mind the penis, but perhaps that would detract from the subtledties. His grin is priceless. At first the graphic effects bugged me...yet they grow on me. Now I believe they work well with the drawing. The techniques blend nicely.

I feel the choice of showing half the hermit's face is striking.I enjoy that the staff could be a walking stick, a scyth, a mage's wand. The activity of the card sets it apart from your average placid hermit. I appreciate that your cards do not look like hum-drum copies of the Rider deck. I like the rider deck...I just don't see why other artists need to recreate it so often, in my opinion.

Is that specific enough?

I like dialogues with artists. I learn stuff that way.

Thank you - that's excellent feedback.
Your perspective and comments are very helpful.
It's nice to hear people's visual reactions to the cards, I know what I want them to do in terms of symbolism but it's nice to hear perspectives on whether purely artistically/visually the images work or not and what they convey.

Re: leaves, that's a flower leaf; personally I wouldn't have minded the penis either but I felt it would detract from the overall image/feeling of the card by having people's attention just zero in on that detail.

Yeah, me neither. I think the whole process should have stopped with the Universal Waite. I love the Rider deck and I find the imagery lovely, and in a way it's been a basis for my own cards - I just wanted to move beyond it and build on what I liked about the decks I worked with and adding my own touches to it.

Me too :)

Very Groovy. And on a sort-of-related note, where's my Astrological gumf? I want to know that the stars think I'm ace too!!!!
Seriously, whenever you get round to finishing it, I'm dying to see/hear it.

Thank you :)

I'm sorry the astrology is taking so long, but it's a pretty complex process and it's been painstaking to type because I really haven't had any quiet hours in weeks in which to do it properly. Normally a chart preparation takes me about four hours, and it seems to be taking twice as long to type ;) It's much easier to do it live, I don't know if your pathway will be taking you through London anytime soon and you want to meet up for coffee and astrology...

Alternatively because I am driving myself nuts I may just re-write the whole thing and start sending it to you in installments.

Oh Nina!! I really don't want to put you out in any way, so if it helps I am on AIM and my user name is IanMcK67. I have no clue when I am next in and around London village although having a quiet word with tubewalker might do the trick. Whenever you get around to it, honestly.

thank you :)

And how are you my dear?

I had a look at TIY - I'm impressed with the amount of work you've put into it.
