Last night I re-discovered my ability to cook vegetables (no doubt in large amounts aided by actually_not re-discovering her ability to make cheese sauce), and vegeto-philes turned up in their droves to consume them, and all in all except the pile of dishes and I'm very pleased with everything.

(although normally never one to condone any kind of physical violence, you kick yourself quite rightly for missing out miss_newham!)

liberal quantities of garlic and red wine, do indeed help make the world go around (and the morning after I could undoubtedly have threatened any number with misbehaving children with just breathing on them)

tjej made me pictures, and someone else downloaded the underground song (ah, pure genius), and verlaine wore the pink feather boa, which quite frankly was the most beautiful thing I have ever seen since he got the Virginia Woolfe makeover.

Flamingo Lake - verlaine is poetry in motion!

and to end this on a joyous note, i bring you the lyrics of the Underground Song (although you really need to listen to it, to appreciate the upbeat voice in which it is sung)

some people might like to get a train to work
or drive in in a beamer or a merc
some guys like to travel in by bus
but i can't be bothered with the fuss today
i've got to take my bike
cos once again the tube's on strike
the greedy bastards want extra pay
for sitting on thier arse all day
even though they earn 30k

so i'm standing here in the pouring rain
where the fvck's my fvcking train?

london underground...
they're all lazy fvcking useless cvnts
london underground
they're all greedy cvnts
i want to shoot them all with a rifle

all they say is *mind the doors*
and they learned that on a two-day course
this job could be done by a four year old
and they just leave us freezing in the cold
what you smell is what you get
burger king and piss and sweat
you roast to death in the boiling heat
with tourists treading on your feet
and chewing gum on every seat

so don't tell me to mind the gap
i want my fvcking money back

the doors are sticky and the seats are damp
every platform has a fvcking tramp
but the dkyvers get the day off work
we're all late for work again

london underground
wa wa wankers, they're all wankers
take your oyster card and shove it up your ar$ehole

ah, sheer genius.
or why-I-prefer-to-travel-by-buses

If I'm to go by the photographic evidence, I don't think I did miss out... But thanks for trying to get me to come. Who is responsible for the song? For some reason I'm inagining it in Simon's voice...

And I thought Simon was singing too when I heard it, but apparently not.

Having not been a young male in the UK in 1980, Nina alas failed to recognise the song as being a rewrite of The Jam's 'Going Underground'. I'm responsible for propagating it, yes, but whilst the angsty humour is funny I do think public transport is something to be encouraged rather than slagged off etc etc...

No idea who did it, where it came from etc etc. We're probably best not knowing.

oh, heavens. Just look at the google ads on that link. I should have chosen a better phrase to google...

Speaking of which, I had to look for a sneezing fetish site (successfully) for work today.

see the heady heights you may aspire to in your song writing? :)

Wow, I really like that top feather boa pic. Definite icon material!
Jan. 27th, 2005 04:42 am (UTC)
The mind boggles. Is that icon as in user icon, or icon as in, for example, Dale Winton?

Really sorry to have missed it. I suck. And not in a good way..
