Yesterday was a very exciting, social-event packed day. Most of it was taken up by Module 5 of my Astrology Course, where we learned to do secondary progressions and I finally saw the light because I hated the Solar Arc system and sneered at it whenever anyone tried to explain it. We got to huddle around ephemerises (ephemeri?) and do lots of calculations of charts, and studied the chart of Princess Margaret.

One of the delights of astrology for me, is that it's so complicated, and there is SO MUCH to learn. All these facets, all these ways of looking at someone's symbolic approach to and journey through life, such a rich spectrum of both symbols and possibilities. So many things to learn, to play with, to discover! So many levels of things, and so many complexities, every chart is like a Rubik's cube to me - a multi-dimensional puzzle rotating and unfolding in the mind, supremely beautiful for existing on several levels simultaneously.

At the moment I could think of nothing more beautiful than to closet myself with charts and Astrology Tutors for the next ten days, and just learn and learn and learn.

I do love the FAS and reccomend it highly - I utterly approve of their gentle, but completely un-fluffy approach - no fatalistic predictions, and no dwelling on karma and past life stuff, just good information well broken down and lots of work with charts.

And it was in astrology class that the craving to cut my hair came upon me, and it was irresistible, especially when I discovered I had a pair of nail scissors in my bag. So, after the astrology seminar I retired to the bathroom of the LSE and had a go with cutting in some layers to the horror of Sandra and undoubtedly any hairdresser who ever lived.

I was pleased with the results, it looked in practice exactly as it had in the theory in my head, and I'm going to have a go with doing it some more today only with proper scissors this time.

Then, some tubes and buses later I was in Fortune Green, where I had a perfectly splendid evening in an Indian/Nepalese restaurant, and got to meet lots of LJers and babies (which would have been a bit like work, except they were utterly likeable smallfolk).

In attendance kasku and littleindigo, mzdt, and the Bison Clan bisonfish, land_girl, bisonbaby and Ralph who was cuter than most little boys and had longer eyelashes that any boy or man ought to have.

Poor littleindigo was feeling poorly and continued to be unhappy throughout the evening despite her parent's attempts to soothe her with breast milk and walks - but I think the other people had a good time.

I got to meet land_girl! at last, and admire her pretty necklace and rather excellent haircut and was delighted that she was as good to talk to as her LJ was to read. bisonbaby was a splendour in pink fleecey top, and my opinion of her has grown hugely after I was told that she had picked it out herself. Clearly, this is a child with a bright future - you can't go wrong with love of pink AND the written word. We read some books, and displayed our teeths, and compared nailpolishes and it was all very satisfying to me.

Then mzdt and I headed off on some misguided trek along Finchley Road to look for pubs, were unsuccesful, but I found buses instead and Desperate Housewives on telly at home, and I've felt content with the world ever since despite the cold.

I wish I'd seen that there was a Bison clan before I'd made up my username, I'd have been Bisonstranger.

Don't tell people I failed to find a pub - I have a reputation to maintain!

Glad you had fun.

Re: haircut!!
haircut pics will be difficult to do, because it's mostly just some layering and that is a bit hard to take pics of to show properly (strangely easier to cut th hair on the back of your head than take images of it) :)

on the other hand, i love your new icon. i adore it. i get a terrible kick out of it every time i see it. :)
