Teen Art Masterclass

Although I am in the present day struggling to populate my 4000 word due-in-less-than-a-week essay with worthy sentences, I can but witstfully remember the days (all ages ending in 'een') when output wasn't the problem.

There were many masterworks from that period (including an illustrated two-volume opus, narrated by horses) which unfortunately has been lost to time and my haphazard manner of moving belongings from house to house. I live in hope that it might still turn up one day (along with an erotic comic I penned aged 12, with the aid of a pilfered Playboy and some Fashion Tracing Plates).

In the meantime, I can but offer you this sketch I doodled aged 13, as an expression of my nihilism and contempt for the measly trappings of life such as Maths Homework.

Hark! Behold, a beautiful-albeit-misunderstood young woman lies dead! An Angel retrieves her soul which has the misfortune of not only being Dead, but also Tired. Its shoulders wilt with existential ennui, its facial features are blurred at the futility of the shabbyness of both Life and Afterlife. The Weight and Oppression of the world is heavy upon them all.

I am a compulsive collector of things which people send me or which catch my eye, and I always mean to do something with them but never get around to it.

That is not until I have an essay due and I found some nice fames in Habitat and decided to make a collage. Well actually it turned into several but the first one was All About Me.

This is how it turned it out:

Pic is a bit fuzzy due to being taken by a phonecamera, but I'm quite pleased with it and might start using it as the new background to my LJ.

Hello!

Well, all of my friends list has erupted in memes so I thought I'd invent one of my own.

I collect pictures of fish.

So please, draw me a fish [using whatsoever method you prefer] and paste me its picture in the comments and I shall treasure it and beam upon your countenance.

If you like you can ask me to draw you something in return.

Oh go on, you know you want to. It will be more fun than work.

A while back I was cleaning the house, and organising my papers and photographs when I came across my unfinished sketches for paintings and the little case of guache and suddenly painting seemed much more important than cleaning, so I covered the floor with newspapers and my face and hands with streaks of blue and made:

Now that I have a WACOM Graphics A4 tablet I'm starting my Tarot project in earnest, and going about the long process of transforming sketches into finished cards.

So, here is the first draft [this is not at all how the finished card will look like, but it's a start, mostly to allow me to experiement with all the tools at my disposal]

LJ is back!
*feels ecstasy*
With this awful lack of internet, I hope everyone had exciting RL weekends.

Today is also the day when I will be getting a visitation from my stepdad (and possibly my mother, depending on whether she managed to find the passport she misplaced), so in preparation I've been attempting to clean the house and remove the more obvious traces of debauchery.

The bruise on my face is healing, by turning every darker colours of twilight and slowly migrating downwards from my cheekbone. This is a great improvement on the state of affairs because now I can even chew without pain and everything. This is a particular delight as for most of last week I was attempting to move the right side of my face as little as possible, so as not to aggravate it, and ended up talking like a stroke victim, or John Wayne.

Most of the week has very excitingly been taken up by being ill, and discovering that yes, coughing can make one rather light headed and seems a better exercise for stomach muscles than sit ups. I anticipate if this state of affairs continues I will start developing a six-pack.

On another positive note, my voice is back! which I've celebrated by singing along to the Black Rider soundtrack between coughing fits, in my more lightheaded moments.

And on a final random note:
Nicknames
Ninochka - bad, and liable to get you glared at.
Kitten - perfectly acceptable.

from [info]tjej :

Draw me a picture of anything from my my interest list, and i'll draw you one from yours in return. You must use MS Paint and a mouse, otherwise its cheating right and nobody likes a cheat, except people who dont have morals, which is quite a lot of livejournal. Post all the pictures you drew and all the pictures you got.

and a useful tip from [info]offensive_mango
If you don't have your own webspace, you can upload images directly from your computer to http://www.imageshack.us/, and they'll provide a link that you can paste directly into the comments box.

So, here is what I drew and what I got so far )

Mister, please,...draw me a sheep.

Gratuitous posting of sheepy goodness that has no point whatsoever other than that I'm an insomniac with a new toy )
