which yields altogether more promising results than Nina (dubbed as nerdy and neurotic by the acronym thang).

Defeated by my bank balance and the contents of the fridge I had decided to subsist on bread and water (and perhaps claiming moral superiority through pretending to be an ascetic) until my mother came and started cooking on Monday (also the happy day on which I get my salary), but my sister rang instead and offered to nurture and feed me instead. I hope she is rewarded with much good karma.

On another note, I got all active and gave my pictures to be developed. I have the feeling that a few of them will be like: *See that brown blob in that tree? That's a koala.* - but we'll see.

Re: ooo
Technically she is my cousin - but it's almost the same word and I feel quite close to her, so we call each other sister.

(A lot of cousins in Yug address each other as brother and sister. Just another one of our quaint little ways that confuses outsiders and causes them to go: *Wait, how much family do you have, exactly*?) ;)

Re: ooo
I call/ed my grandparents on dad’s side mum and dad, but in German. So do/did my sister and brothers. This was caused by my dad calling them mum and dad in German. It’s not clear to me why my mum referred to them in the same manner also.

I’m sure we got some odd looks while visiting our grandparents (they lived in Vienna at when I was a child). I’m sure people wouldn’t find a child addressing someone in their 60s/70s as “mother” or “father” to be entirely normal.

For added wierdness, we never called our parents “mum” or “dad”. We’ve always just called them by their names instead (except when talking to people outside our family, who usually have trouble with the concept that our parents have names).
