Backadness- part Deux

Today was also the first day of New Job.
I love my supervisor and it's not hugely far from where I live (about 45 minutes commute in total which includes waiting for the bus and walking in from bus stop to work etc.) so I'm more than happy.

I think August is going to be a quiet month- well and good as we're going to need time to settle down and learn what all the forms/procedures are etc.

In fact, the most exciting thing I did all day was have a long chat with various IT people in order to get one of them to set up an Outlook account for me- a thing the bastards had overlooked doing, although they did manage to misspell my name and getting that changed is going to be a pain in the ass and will probably involve me then needing to harass IT people about re-setting my Outlook to include my correct name.

So now I'm entertaining the idea of just not bothering and Having a whole new identity for work purposes.

which could well be entertaining but the tax people may take a dim view. And I'd be likely to end up confusing myself when I answered the phone about who i should be.

(This is especially so having called the IT people several times to get them to amend the name, they instead managed to mispell it even further. You'll be pleased to know that I'm now Manina. At this rate I'm going to have to develop a multiple personality in order to cope).

I've also discovered that work computers don't allow us access to any webmail based programs (which I was guttered about, and my boss even more so- I love having a boss who splutters *But I want to check my hotmail!*) as this seems to defeat the good part of the purpose of being at work;

However, by the same token I was delighted to note that LJ is accessible.

I've now met two of the four people I'll be working with- meeting the other two on Monday. I think the plan is we're going to give each other basic language lessons- so I can learn to say in Sylheti, Bengali and Arabic simple things such as *Hello. Please come back next week.*

which hopefully will not come out sounding anything like: *We are a Laundrette thankyouplease* or
*I have been admiring your pert buttocks Madam*

Aleikum Salaam
Thankee muchly :D

Porer shoptahe ashun!"
How do you pronounce this, roughly?

I've read a great book recently and thought of you, Brick Lane by Monica Ali, all about a Bengali woman Nazneen whose arranged marriage takes her to London.

My brain is a bit scattered, but now hopefully I can get myself sorted and do something useful on Musemuggers Deux. ;)

::wavies::

Changing your birth certificate and becoming Manina officially
might be the easiest route to take here :)

I hope the new job is both pleasing and profitable. You
certainly deserve it.

Ahem.

French: "J'etais en train d'admirer vos fesses fermes, Madame"

Serb: "Divila sam se vasoj cvrstoj guzi, Gospodjo"

I was thinking you could use it as caption for that picture of Lucy with the extremely small panties, as she has rather pert buttocks. ;)

Manina sounds too manly. ;)
And hey, you never know what might come out of the pert buttocks comment - I'm sure some ladies would be quite flattered.

IT people cannot spell - it's what allows them to be able to write the bizarre langauges that are code.

My lot spent their entire budget for software downloads and infrastructure changes for a year in about 2 months getting their details on outlook changed.

wassocks!
