Democracy won

by a fraction.

We all went out and voted, even dragged the 96 year old grandmother to do it, and she caused something of a stirr among the people overseeing the election process. They were all like' Oh my God, she walks unaided! She's reading without glasses! She's signing her own name!

Maybe I'll pack in the whole psychology malarkey and we can have a circus act.

The population seemed to get over its lethargy again, and extracted thier craniums from their rectums and went out and voted, quite good turn out actually, about 50% (much better than the usual 25% of turnup); It was still a tight result though- Tadic (the Democratic candidate) got 53% of the vote, the Radical, Nikolic, 46- not a margin of difference I'm wholly comfortable with.

I liked waht the political analysts had to say though- that they hope that Tadic realises that most of the people weren't voting for him, they were voting against Nikolic.

But hey, it's the first democratically elected president in Serbia, ever, so I guess we are making progress.

Heh me too. Lest I have to start learning Chinese. ;)

The Radicals and the Socialists are all claiming a *moral victory* though. And much as I hate to admit it they have a point, the media was all backing the democrats hugely and they did not play wholly fair.

Old habits die very very hard. But at least, no sanctions.
