I am 39 weeks pregnant.

Z keeps comparing my physique to that of a snake that has swallowed an egg. Much as I cannot fault his observational skills, I nevertheless feel that his poetry needs work.

I am very hot and somewhat irritable. My shins are covered with bruises on account of the sharp edges of the bed and my stomach-hampered navigational abilities.

For the last three nights my Uterus has also been fucking with me like so: - at roughly 1am, begin contractions regular and powerful enough to make me all jiggety with nervousness and excitement of thinking "Labour! Has begun!". I commence relaxation and sleep breathing techniques taught to me by hippies. I fall asleep. I wake up in the morning still pregnant.

I have now officially Had Enough. The house is cleaner than it has been in years, the bathrooms are sparkling, and aside from a not-especially urgent trip to IKEA my To-Do list has been shown what's what.

Raspberrry leaf tea is being drunk with mild grimaces. Chillies are becoming integral for my cooking. My jawline is acquiring a grim set.

At least the cat has no problem with waiting.

Holy Heck!!
Nina! I have been so remiss.... Let's see, about 28 weeks remiss to be exact. I can't believe you are having another baby!! Congratulations!!! (And I hope it pops out soon, easily and quietly with very little pain and NO surprises.)

Wow.

Time has moved so quickly since we got here and I can hardly believe that it has been almost a year. We leave Friday for a trip to Scotland and then on to the US for the month of August. I am going to BlogHer and just got selected to speak at the keynote... am wondering how you handled the stress last year. I am scared out of my wits and afraid I will be a basket case until it is over.

It has been ridiculously easy settling into life here and getting complacent about going new places. Stu starts Reception in September, going full time in November. Maybe at that point things will be easier? More flexible? Something?? :)

Re: Holy Heck!!
Wow! Congrats on the Keynote thing, I look forward to seeing the video of it online afterwards. You will do great, I'm sure and I'm sorry that I'm going to miss the live event.

I will write you an email because I'm not sure you will see my reply here.

You should be friends with Ailbhe. She's about a week ahead of you in pregnancy, with a bump that's terrifyingly huge. She's also writes amusingly.

Hope the bump turns into a baby with ease and speed :)

I was trying to think of a more flattering animal before catching myself and thinking, 'oh yeah, men comparing women to animals - the world really needs more of that'.

I am envious of that cat's stretching skillz.

Me too!
COME OUT BABY.

I have a bunch of logistically tricky things like furniture removals and deliveries schedules over the next few days, so chances are now excellent that I will go into labour very soon.

That is an impressive bump, I hope that the baby doesn't keep you waiting too long though, here's to a quick and uncomplicated birth!

I feel for you. I remember being ready to pop, sleeping in front of open patio doors just to get cool enough. I'm in awe that you're doing it for a second time, anyway. Brave lady.

So many of my life decisions seemed like such a good idea at the time, but this has taught me that I am only euqipped to gestate children in the depths of winter when my self-generated heat will be both economically and ptractically sound.

Thank you.
I'm trying to minimise bruises before I end up looking like a victim of domestic violence.
