Places where my 3 year old nephew suggested we put the baby:

Upstairs

In the garden

In a box

Behind the sofa

Obligatory Baby Spam

Having managed to wriggle out of his restraints, Matei stands up in his car seat and decides to take a stroll only to end up sprawled and asleep on my handbag. This also marks the last time I spend pleasant moments on the front seat of the car, engaging in frivolous adult pasttimes of Knee Stroking and Light Conversation. From now on until Infinity my destiny as Backseat Invigilator beckons.

You can see the beginning of some fiendish plan forming in his eyes. I see this expression at least 5 hours per day.

Oh you can just see the wheels turning in that brain of his :). If that baby is as smart as I think he is, you're in for it!

Mine escaped their car seats a few times. But we always caught them in the act and freaked out (normally while driving along a motorway).
The freaking out convinced them not to do it again.

Um, I don't know the exact mechanics by which he got himself out of the car seat, but maybe it's worth thinking about getting a different one? If he can work himself out (or if the clasps can be undone by a nine month old), I'm concerned that it might not hold up to the force of a collision very well. My niece & nephew have wiggled out of plenty of things (strollers, etc.), but I think car seats are meant to be pretty secure. Like roller coaster seats--if you can get yourself out of them, you're in trouble.
