Since discovering the comic genius of

baby_names it's like my soul has tapped itself into a vein of infinite hilarity and joy. My favourite suggestion so far is :Vaughn Finnigan Christian Mallechi Leo Parker Mercutio Serge Victor Didier Giovanni  (for a single child).

I've since decided to dismiss Matei as a weak and pretty name and call my firstborn son Slayer.

Ways in which pregnancy has imrpoved my life:

Not having to deal with catshit in any shape or form

Convincing Z that me doing washing-up is bad for the baby.

Being able to enjoy a menagerially-sanctioned lie down on the meeting room sofa at work when I feel dizzy

Free fruit appearing on my desk

Daydreaming about the nine months of paid maternity leave, oh yus.

Ways in which it hasn't been so great

My re-acquaintance with heartburn.

Although I was never much a drinker, I miss cocktails soooooo much. Sometimes at night I dream of colourful rum concoctions with little paper umbreallas stuck in them and my soul weeps. I've been forced to start having my smoothies in martini glasses to alleviate the cravings.

Being on the receiving end of SO.MUCH. ADVICE of which a selection of my favourites from my aunt: "Now you must be careful about what you eat. Stop eating bread. And pasta. And rice. It will only make you gain weight. And you don't want to be a fat pregnant. Why when (family friend) was in her eight month she looked tiny!"

Becoming a bit of a one-trick pony as far as the subjects in this journal are concerned. Sorry about that. I'll think of more interesting things to post soon.

I think Lightsabre is an EXCELLENT name.

Surely not better than Slayer?

But Lightsabre works on so many levels - it has a hippyish vibe (with the 'light' element), will appeal to fans of sci-fi/fantasy, and fundamentally IS A WEAPON, so is incredibly hardcore.

If you don't name the baby Lightsabre I will weep.

The incredibly hardcore would point out that it is lightsaber.
I wouldn't, obviously.

I rather like the ring of 'Pedant', myself. It blends very well with H4rkness.

I think I like "Lightsabre" more. Pronounced in a mock-French way, like Sartre.

Hahaha, that's a good point.

Honey I'm afraid the baby won't develop properly unless I have a green shoulderbag forthwith...

baby_names makes me weep. Have you met its (much quieter) evil twin, baby_name_snark? The baby_names mod herself posts there from time to time. :)

I nearly went crazy on the comments there because I think they're giving JK Rowling credit for a perfectly normal Old English name like Wulfric. I'm tempted to get all, well, medieval on them.
