Commuter Hell

Commuter Hell
Originally uploaded by rainsinger.

Victoria Line was pure hell this morning. I thought it was some Terrorist Midwinter Special but apparently just the usual London Transport silliness.

All these people queued to get into Finsbury Park Tubestation in a thoroughly exemplary British manner.

Not I on the other hand, of the traitorous Mediterranean genes who spent my time ranting and raving.

However, on a happy note, see below pictures from my sekrit weekend in France a couple of months back.

In a hugely OTT Greek Restaurant we found in some winding little alley in the Latin Quarter. My favourite thing about it was the randomness of the decoration and the fact that they were offering us skewers of meat as long as my arm for 15 euros.

From the Catacombs : bones of 6 million Parisians "arranged in a decorative way".

Mm, it gets like that in Vauxhall occasionally too. Usually I can't be bothered, and just go catch a bus instead.

I wished dearly I could do that, but Queens Park is just too far out so I ended up catching five other tube lines instead.

I'm lucky as Brixton is just down the road from Vauxhall really. So much so that people are trying to persuade me to invest in a road bike: as such, I don't expect to see the ripe old age of 32!

i can see what's been sucking up your vastly increased spare time

btw last saturday evening there was a "person under a train" at Green Park which took out the Victoria Line. do you know if there's any website i can go to follow up on that i.e. who was it, what happened etc?

Re: Flickr!
no idea about websites, but www.tfl.com is my journey gospel. However I don't think they have specific info on incidents.

That's where I get the train!!!!!

And yes, it was hellish this morning. These days I've taken to walking to Finsbury Park though because I realised exactly how lazy I was being getting the overground from Harringay!

heh, wow, small world. I wonder if we ever crossed paths on one of the platforms.

It is a small world indeed! And this comment has only just limped in today hence my lack of previous reply... although you've probably had the same thing.

Our paths may indeed have crossed at some point. I like things like that happening.

thank you!
we did have a lovely time and wondered around a lot going "ah, wouldn't it be nice to live here" and spent hours in the evening getting lost and then loster as we tried to find our way back to our hotel in shoddy parts of town. :)

Awwww :o)

We tried to go to the catacombs, but they were closed for redecorating (or some such thing!)
