Bollywood Joy

Proper update coming up, but in the meantime a scene from my domestic life:

*****************************************

Nina, trying to convince Z that he wants to go see The Rising [a glorious piece of Bollywood] with me.

Z: Oh no no no. It sounds horrible.
N: But I bet it’s visually stunning. This is Indian cinema that has been adapted a bit for the west. A bit like Hero and The House of Flying Daggers.
Z: Oh?
N: Yes, and you enjoyed those. So I bet this will be exactly the same. Except instead of the martial arts scenes, they’re going to have… a dance. And some singing. And stuff like that.
Z: Over my dead body.
N: *grumbling* I should have pulled an Asian.

So boo for men but hurrah for cute girls from work! Because on Monday the 17th of August we're evacuting the office promptly at five and going down to Odeon Covent Garden to catch the 5:50 showing of The Rising.

If anyone else is up for joining us, then come along and meet us there.

Bollywood is superb - did you watch it when you were in Britain?

Apparently it does have battle scenes.
In between the dancing.

I've just been reading about the Indian Mutiny - interesting stuff.

Our local cinema always has at least 3 Bollywood films... I've never been tempted. :)

Hero was fantastic
whereas House of Flying Daggers is the only film where I considered walking out of the cinema :P

*clicks on link to read a bit more about Rising*

Re: Hero was fantastic
I really liked the first half of Flying Daggers, but the second half dragged on a little bit for me.

What did you dislike about it?
